Job summary

Responsibilities

• Verifies positive patient identification to ensure patient safety and assesses reactions to specimen procurement.
• Performs Venipuncture and collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to protocol.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing; resolves identification issues.
• Performs limited testing under CLIA guidelines according to policies and procedures.
• Assists with telephone inquiries, inventory, billing support, and other business functions.
• Receives, sorts, and tracks specimens; prepares them for testing and transport; responds to procurement requests.
• Documents test requests; runs quality control checks; notifies providers of abnormal results per policy.
• Performs lab result entry in the computer system.
