Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a phlebotomy technician to perform phlebotomy procedures and point-of-care testing in support of clinical activities within Rex Lab Customer Svcs. The role requires 1 year of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy program, with on-site work in Raleigh, NC.

Work hours are 5:00 AM–1:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with weekend rotation. The position emphasizes quality, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• One year of phlebotomy experience required.
• If graduated from a phlebotomy program, no previous experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.

Summary

Schedule

5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday, including rotation to work every third weekend.
