Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to support phlebotomy and patient point-of-care testing within the Phlebotomy Services unit. This full-time, evening schedule involves on-site work and collaboration with healthcare teams.

The role requires 1 year of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy program with no prior experience needed. No licensure is required, and comprehensive UNC Health benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of phlebotomy experience required, or
  • If graduation from a phlebotomy program, no previous experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
  • Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
  • Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
  • May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
  • May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
  • May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors or report results to healthcare providers.
  • Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
  • Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks. Monitors daily operation of laboratory work area.

Summary:

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of the clinical activities in the Healthcare System.

Schedule:

Hours 3:30p - Midnight, M-F and every other weekend with rotating holidays

Responsibilities:
