Job summary

UNC Health in North Carolina is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures and point-of-care testing in the Caldwell Memorial Hospital system. The role is onsite, 20 hours weekly, Fri–Sun 12-hour shifts on a rotating weekend schedule.

Qualifications include one year of phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy program with no prior experience required. No licensure is required.

• If graduation from a phlebotomy program, no previous experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Consults with healthcare providers/patients regarding phlebotomy service issues.
• Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
• Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
• May participate on teams or perform special projects/assignments.
• May perform teaching and training of new employees, phlebotomy students and/or other healthcare providers.
• May review test results to ensure accuracy of reporting and timely correction of errors.
• Performs phlebotomy procedures, quality control and equipment maintenance in the appropriate laboratory.
• Responsible for and/or ensures completion of daily work and assigned tasks.

Summary:

Performs a variety of phlebotomy procedures and/or patient point-of-care testing in support of the clinical activities in the Healthcare System.

Schedule:

Fri, Sat, Sun 12 hr shift every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

1. Consults/confers with healthcare providers/patients regarding patient care as it relates to phlebotomy service issues.
2. Ensures quality and accuracy of work.
3. Investigates problems with equipment, patient results, specimens and/or workflow.
