Job summary

Providence St. Peter Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant Phlebotomist to support reception and telephone duties while proficiently operating laboratory equipment, including HIS/LIS systems, and handling specimen registration, collection, processing, and shipping for reference laboratories.

The role involves phlebotomy by venipuncture or capillary stick, therapeutic blood collection, swab collection of micro samples, assignment to OP Lab locations, and training new staff as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification required.
  • 6 months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.

Responsibilities

  • Reception and telephone duties.

Job description

All Sites:Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling:receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 6 months Direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by WA State.
