Job summary

Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA is hiring Phlebotomists for multiple openings. The role involves collecting and processing specimens from the Emergency Department, Main Tower, West Tower, East Tower and Outpatient areas, including blood samples and POCT testing.

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, you will maintain supplies, register patients, label and distribute samples, and assist with training for students.

Qualifications

  • Requires H.S. Diploma or GED or higher education.
  • Must have completed a Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy or Phlebotomy course.
  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Laboratory or related science experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process laboratory specimens from hospital areas including Emergency Department, Main Tower, West Tower, East Tower and Outpatient areas.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies by ordering, receiving and stocking them; perform general lab duties.
  • Register patients and accession specimens into the computer system; label, process and distribute samples; print pending logs and reports.
  • Provide orientation and training for Medical Technology students, Career Focus students and phlebotomy students.

This posting is for multiple openings of Phlebotomist at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA. We are hiring for the following opportunities:

  • Supplemental or Per Diem, Variable Shift, no guaranteed hours

Under the general direction of the Laboratory Director, the Phlebotomist collects and processes laboratory specimens from all areas of the hospital including, but not limited to the Emergency Department, Main Tower, West Tower, East Tower and Outpatient areas, including blood samples, skin scrapings, and POCT testing and non-blood specimens. Maintains laboratory supplies by ordering, receiving and stocking them. Answers the telephone and relays messages. Performs general laboratory duties including general cleaning, instrument maintenance, copying, faxing and other related duties. Registers patients and accessions specimens into the computer system. Labels, processes and distributes samples. Prints pending logs. Prints, copies and distributes reports depending upon department. Provides orientation, and training for Medical Technology students, Career Focus students and phlebotomy students.

Required Qualifications:
  • H.S. Diploma or GED or documentation of higher education
  • Must have completed a Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy or Phlebotomy course
  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire
  • Computer experience
  • Laboratory or related science experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months of Phlebotomist-specific experience which can include time spent in the Phlebotomist training program

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
