Job summary

Providence St Peter Hospital-Olympia is seeking a Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations at our Olympia location. Responsibilities include phlebotomy collection, specimen handling and processing, and registration, with proficiency in HIS/LIS systems and equipment.

The role supports per-diem staffing, with training opportunities and a focus on patient-centered care. Washington-certified phlebotomists or MA-Phlebotomy credentials are preferred, with prior laboratory experience valued.

Qualifications

  • Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification at hire.
  • Minimum 6 months direct phlebotomy experience or completion of a phlebotomy program.
  • WA State-approved Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training program recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Reception and telephone duties; proficient operation of laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling, receiving/processing, and registration.
  • Prep and shipping of lab specimens for Reference Laboratories.
  • Phlebotomy collection of blood samples; training new staff as assigned.

Description

All Sites: Reception and Telephone duties & proficient operation laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep & shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific Micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • 6 months Direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coursework/Training Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training Program/Course approved by WA State.

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors.
