Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, whether as part of their routine health checks or for critical health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples, prepares specimens for lab testing, and follows established protocols.
- They interact directly with patients, building trust and explaining procedures clearly, while performing blood draws safely and accurately.
- The PSR II demonstrates leadership, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Assignments may vary between doctor's offices, patient service centers, or other locations based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and timely under supervision.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Carry out forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing confidently, following protocols.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain signatures post-venipuncture to ensure proper labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, and colleagues.
Job Requirements
- Provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Be flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adhere to all policies, safety standards, and company principles.
- Make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Travel and flexible hours are required to cover multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Demonstrate superior customer focus, effective communication, adaptability, and knowledge of the business.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Experience in retail or service customer support is preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
