Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, whether as part of their health routine or for health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples and prepares specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures.
- Creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures and drawing blood skillfully, safely, and accurately.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- Assignments may vary to a doctor's office, patient service center, or as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and timely under supervision.
- Maintain a safe, professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing confidently, following established practices.
- Verify patient demographic info and initials, including post-venipuncture signature, ensuring proper labeling.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment.
Job Requirements
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to all policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with short notice.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus, open communication, adaptability, and business knowledge.
- Training locations vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training preferred (medical assistant, paramedic)
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in CA, NV, WA
Work Experience
- At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, capillary collections
- Preferably 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment
- Customer service experience in retail or service sector preferred
- Keyboard/data entry experience
