Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, either as part of their routine health checks or for health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures.
- The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures, and drawing blood safely and accurately.
- The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and confidentiality of patient information.
- Applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as needed by the business.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area manager.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and labels, ensuring correct identification and labeling in the presence of the patient.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, and colleagues.
Job Requirements
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to policies, dress code, safety, and guiding principles.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Superior customer focus, open communication, adaptability to change, and knowledge of the business.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
