Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• 6 months to 1+ year experience in phlebotomy training or specimen collection and processing
• ASCP Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs blood draws by venipuncture according to standard protocol
• Ensures patient safety and proper specimen labeling
• Provides patient and caregiver instructions for specimen collection
• Releases orders in the HIS and receives specimens in LIS
• Performs data entry in information systems following policies
• Maintains adequate supply inventory and assists nursing staff as needed
• Provides coverage at alternate locations to meet staffing needs
