Qualifications

• Ability to interact in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
• Effective communication of technical information to colleagues and patients.
• Experience with registration, clerical duties and specimen processing.
• Adheres to safety policies and protects confidential information.
• Available to work during disasters.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens, process specimens, and monitor specimens submitted to referral laboratories.
• Perform registration and order entry procedures with accuracy and timeliness.
• Label specimens and aliquots according to testing ordered.
• Provide patient/family education on collection procedures.
• Maintain documentation and records for specimen problems and turnaround times.
• Troubleshoot specimen and referral testing issues as needed.
• Operate computer information systems related to duties and maintain clean work area.
• Support department goals for service, quality and regulatory compliance.
