Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a PRN Lab Phlebotomist to join the team. You will perform specimen collection, processing, and registration under supervision, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance while supporting service, quality, and patient satisfaction goals.

Responsibilities include venipuncture and finger stick procedures across age groups, specimen labeling, documentation, and timely submission to referral laboratories.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience performing registration, clerical duties, and sending out of specimen processing
• Ability to interact with co-workers in a team environment, promoting a harmonious working environment
• Excellent customer service practices in all interactions
• Effective communication with personnel to exchange technical information
• Completes assigned courses and training annually
• Available to work during disasters

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements
• Proficient in venipunctures and finger sticks for various ages
• Uses computer information system for job functions
• Performs registration and order entry procedures accurately
• Labels specimens according to protocols
• Centrifuges and aliquots specimens as needed
• Collects chain-of-custody specimens if required
• Maintains records related to specimen issues and corrective actions
• Assists in communication to customers, floors, physicians regarding specimens
