Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, heel sticks and finger sticks and assist with non-blood specimen collection. You will also provide instruction and support to colleagues and students as needed.

Responsibilities include collecting and processing specimens per policies, maintaining a clean work area, handling registration and order entry, and performing other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Phlebotomy training is required.
• Six months’ phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within expected timeframes both on and off site as required.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
• Performs laboratory support duties (e.g., order entry, registration, specimen receiving, etc.) to ensure efficient operations.
• May mentor students in phlebotomy utilizing AHN policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
