Job summary

Los Angeles Community Hospitals is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, procure blood samples, and label specimens accurately for transport and processing. You will review lab requisitions, ensure quality, and maintain supplies and inventory while providing courteous, empathetic service to patients.

Responsibilities include data entry, records maintenance, phones, reports, and supporting lab operations.

Qualifications

• California Certified Phlebotomy Technician credential required.
• English reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).

Responsibilities

• Identify patient, perform venipuncture, and collect/label specimens per requisition.
• Print and label collection batches; maintain infection control standards.
• Process specimens for dispatch; adhere to lab protocols.
• Participate in departmental process improvement and meet turnaround times.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and regulatory standards.
• Manage supplies, inventory, and lab deliveries; handle calls and reports.
