Job summary

The Spaulding Hospital Cambridge, part of Mass General Brigham, seeks a Phlebotomist to collect and process blood specimens for laboratory testing. Under moderate supervision you will ensure accurate patient identification, proper labeling, and timely transport, contributing to safe and efficient patient care.

You will perform phlebotomy across age groups, maintain HIPAA compliance, and provide training to new staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy experience 1–2 years required.
• Phlebotomy Technician National Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples using phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• May assist in patient care emergencies and provide rapid response when needed.
• Communicates effectively with patients and care teams to ensure satisfaction and understanding of procedures.
• Troubleshoots specimen, order, and operational issues within the work area.
• Provides training and education to new staff and students as assigned.
