Job summary

North Medical Center in Florida seeks a phlebotomist to join our hospital laboratory team. You will obtain blood specimens from patients and support clerical functions of the lab, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining data processing equipment, processing and distributing test requests, and communicating with nursing units. Prior phlebotomy experience and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current BLS Certification.
• One year experience as a hospital phlebotomist.
• Possesses clerical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens from patients and manage clerical functions in the laboratory.
• Maintain data processing equipment and process and distribute patient specimens, and communicate between nursing units and the laboratory.
• Assist students in the development of technical, clinical, and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain a positive image of the department and hospital; interact professionally with patients, physicians and staff.
• Procure biological specimens using phlebotomy procedures including blood cultures and blood samples.
• Assist in cleaning laboratory equipment and perform non-professional clerical duties as assigned.
