Job summary

Norman Regional is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Outreach Service team. The position involves patient interviews, specimen collection, and ensuring insurance requirements are met during registration.

You will perform blood draws, urine collection, and related lab duties both on and off site, while maintaining excellent patient care and regulatory compliance. The role requires phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma or GED, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Computer/word processing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform admission interviews at Outreach Service Centers or review information provided at the time of specimen collection.
• Ensure Medicare, insurance and managed care requirements are met prior to registration.
• Respond to inquiries regarding patients.
• Obtain blood specimens on or off site following procedures and timeframes.
• Obtain specimens requiring special collection procedures.
• Perform diagnostic electrocardiogram on outpatients and INR QC/testing.
• Urine collection and processing.
• Assist in the laboratory area.
• Act as a resource for Laboratory information.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and Medicare requirements.
• Order and maintain supplies at PAR level.
• Adhere to various laboratory requirements and proper phone etiquette.
