Job summary

Health First is seeking a qualified phlebotomist to provide quality blood collection services and laboratory support. You will ensure timely and accurate specimen collection, with a focus on friendly and professional patient interaction.

The role requires phlebotomy experience, a high school diploma, and AHA BLS certification. You may participate in offsite phlebotomy and POC testing as needed, with emphasis on accuracy and customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year of venipuncture experience.
• Proof of completion/letter from a phlebotomy training program within the first 90 days of employment.
• Medical certificates that include phlebotomy training may be considered.
• Current AHA BLS certification and maintained.
• Strong computer skills, excellent customer service skills, good oral and written communication skills, ability to prioritize and organize work.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all Health First policies and procedures and with accreditation requirements.
• Handles patient specimens and provides patient services, including offsite phlebotomy where applicable.
• Meets goals and contributes to performance metric improvements.
• Ensures valid patient results with zero identification errors in pre- and post-analytical phases.
• Performs basic computer tasks relevant to job duties.
• Supports staffing needs during holidays, weekends, illnesses, or emergencies.
• Communicates effectively with coworkers and management and escalates when necessary.
• Performs Point of Care Testing (POC) on the lab menu at the assigned site, if applicable.
• Participates in proficiency testing as required by state regulations.
• Assists with lab registration, insurance eligibilities, authorizations, and payments.
