Upland Hills Health in Mt. Horeb, WI is seeking a Part-time Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant for the Mt. Horeb Urgent Care location. The role supports the Lab Services Department with waived testing, specimen collection, and liaison with physicians.

The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, flexibility to cover weekends/holidays, and the ability to work well in team or individual settings. Training for phlebotomy is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to work in a hospital-based clinical lab in a proficient and independent fashion.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work on a computer.
• Prior EPIC EMR experience is beneficial.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived testing with kits and basic analyzers.
• Phlebotomy skills are preferred, but training is provided.
• Communicate accurately verbally and in writing.
• Organize, prioritize, and work well in team or individual settings.
• Provide good customer service and troubleshoot when needed.
• May collect specimens and discuss lab results with physicians.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Collaborate with lab staff, physicians, nursing, and ancillary teams to ensure high-quality care.
• Answer calls from patients and healthcare staff.
• Follow all SOPs governing the laboratory and stay current with competencies and training.
• Cover departments and perform tasks as directed by lab management.
• Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.

Role & Department: Staff Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant for the Lab Services Department at Mt. Horeb Urgent Care

Hours & Shift: Part-time .5 FTE (40 hours per pay period) position; will work 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. two to three shifts per week and every other weekend 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A holiday rotation is also required.

Role Responsibilities:

• Will perform waived testing with kits and basic analyzers
• Phlebotomy skills are preferred, but not required (will train)
• Ability to communicate accurately verbally and in writing
• Candidates should have the ability to organize and prioritize and to work in both individual and team environments
• Good customer service and trouble shooting skills are required
• May collect specimens from patients and speak with physicians about lab results
• Maintains accurate records of work performed
• Will work with other lab professional staff, physicians, nursing staff and other ancillary staff professionals to provide high-quality care for patients
• Answer phone calls from patients and other healthcare staff
• Follow all written standard operating procedures that govern the laboratory
• Stay up to date on assigned competencies and continuing education
• Cover departments and perform tasks as designated by laboratory management
• Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities
• Will perform other lab functions as directed

Qualifications:

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to work in a hospital based clinical lab in a proficient and independent fashion
• Past experience in phlebotomy, processing and waived testing is preferred but not required
• Must have excellent communication skills and must be able to work proficiently on a computer
• Prior EPIC EMR experience is beneficial
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
• Previous experience with the Microsoft Office Suite software programs is beneficial
