Job summary

Mass General Brigham seeks a Phlebotomist II to join The Brigham and Women’s Hospital team in Jamaica Plain for onsite blood collection and processing. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered to welcome candidates and recognize their skills.

The role requires the collection of specimens across all ages, strict patient identification, labeling, and safe transport of samples. You will work with a collaborative care team, provide training to staff and students, and uphold HIPAA and safety standards while

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years phlebotomy experience.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens.
• May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting.
• Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order, and common operational issues within the work area.
• Provides some training and education to new staff and students.
• Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Performs other tests, administration, and specimen collection as assigned.
