Actalent in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipunctures, specimen collection and handling with strict accuracy. You will communicate procedures clearly to patients and staff, verify orders, and maintain specimen integrity throughout transport.

The role requires a valid phlebotomy certification, 6 months of venipuncture experience, 2–4 years in healthcare or a lab setting, and proficiency with specimen processing.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced setting.
• 2–4 years in a related healthcare or lab role.
• Proficient phlebotomy skills including venipuncture.
• Ability to perform blood draws with straight and butterfly needles.
• Experience with labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing, and transport prep.
• Strong patient care and clear communication abilities.
• Accurate matching of requisitions to specimens.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and blood draws in a safe, efficient, patient-focused manner.
• Collect and store blood, urine, fecal and other specimens per procedures.
• Explain procedures to patients in a courteous, clear manner.
• Match requisitions to tubes and verify information for accuracy.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Check test orders against labels to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain integrity during handling.
• Store samples at required temperatures with proper labeling.
• Interpret physicians’ orders for correct collection and processing.
• Maintain records and perform decontamination per standards.
• Assist troubleshooting related to collection, labeling, processing, and workflow.
• Suggest workflow improvements and support process optimization.
• Attend department trainings and stay current on safety requirements.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP safety guidelines.
