Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist II for a hospital-based laboratory in Portland, OR. The role focuses on phlebotomy, specimen collection, accurate labeling, and handling to meet test requirements.

You will work in a fast-paced environment with adult and geriatric patients, travel to patient rooms, and support a high-volume morning workflow while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required by local regulations.
• Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital setting.
• 2 to 4 years of overall experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and blood draws with accuracy and care.
• Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to procedures.
• Explain venipuncture process to patients to ensure comfort.
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify accuracy.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and store specimens per test orders.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity.
• Follow procedures for specimen handling, transport, and documentation.
• Understand and interpret physicians’ orders for testing.
• Update patient information and ensure accurate data entry.
• Answer calls and provide laboratory results when appropriate.
• Attend annual department trainings and stay current with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Collaborate with team to support efficient workflow and patient care.
• Travel between lab and patient rooms for blood draws (adult/geriatric).
• Support high-volume morning workflow (approx. 35–40 patients).
