Job description

Title: Phlebotomist II

Duration: 3+ months

Location: Johnson City, Tennessee, 37601

Shift: Monday and Wednesday 8:00am-1:30pm (no lunch), Tuesday and Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm (30 minutes lunch)

Description:
  • The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
  • The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • The PSR II has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
  • The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as needed based on business requirements.
  • Under the supervision of the area manager, perform daily activities accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures with confidence.
  • Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signatures post-venipuncture, to ensure tubes are labeled in their presence and that labels are correct.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, health and safety protocols, and guiding principles.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Superior customer focus with open and transparent communication skills.
  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

Customer service experience in retail or service settings preferred.

Keyboard/data entry experience required.
