Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Phlebotomist II to join our clinical team. You will obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all ages and provide rapid response to medical emergencies.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, interacting with patients and healthcare staff to ensure excellent service. Applicants should have a high school diploma; phlebotomy certification is required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification from an approved agency (ASCP/NHA/ASPT) or MA/MLT/MT certifications preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred; willingness to travel to other MCHS locations as needed.
• Moderate to advanced computer skills; ability to use multiple computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood samples using venous, capillary, arterial, and line methods for all ages.
• Respond rapidly to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes.
• Work independently and with the team; interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high patient satisfaction.
• Assist with training of students and new employees; maintain accurate patient identification and specimen labeling.
