Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is hiring a Phlebotomist II to obtain quality blood samples across diverse age groups. You will work both independently and with a team, ensuring patient safety and accurate specimen handling in a fast-paced clinical setting.

On-the-job training is provided; travel to other Mayo Clinic Health System locations may be required. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certification from ASCP, NHA, or ASPT preferred; MA/MLT/MT certifications also accepted.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel to other Mayo Clinic Health System locations as needed.
• Moderate to advanced computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prioritize work and manage time.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quality blood samples using venous, capillary, arterial, and line methods.
• Respond to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes.
• Interact with patients, nurses, providers and other healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.
• Assist with training of students and new employees.
• Ensure accurate patient identification, proper labeling, handling and transport of specimens.
• Operate and utilize various computer programs and systems in daily workflow.
