$1,500 sign on bonus available for full-time roles, $750 for part-time.

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital, established in 1955, is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. It offers numerous residency and fellowship programs and is affiliated with Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of phlebotomy management, performs support functions including phlebotomy to ensure accurate test results and quick turnaround times. Supports may include various locations and schedules as needed.

Essential Functions

• Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures, ensuring proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and documentation. Adjusts collection methods based on patient age.
• Supports laboratory testing processes, including specimen collection, order entry, processing, and batching.
• Performs specimen processing tasks such as verification, accessioning, aliquoting, and storage.
• Adheres to compliance policies, including presenting ABN for outpatient services.
• Conducts observational competency assessments of support staff.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Works independently and participates in quality improvement and training activities.
• Uses laboratory resources efficiently and performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Course and externship.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program required.
• 6 months relevant experience preferred.
• Michigan Driver's License required for outpatient and nursing home positions.
• National certification (NHA) preferred.
