Description:
- The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, whether for routine health checks or important health decisions.
- Draws high-quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing, following established procedures.
- Has direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence, explaining procedures, and performing blood draws skillfully, safely, and accurately.
- Provides coverage at multiple locations, fulfilling various roles as needed.
- Ensures daily activities across Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and timely.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- May be assigned to work in doctor's offices, patient service centers, house call environments, long-term care, or other settings based on business needs.
- Must be able to step in for a Phlebotomist III- Float and lead on-site staff.
- Acts as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource advisor for new employees and new clients, providing onboarding and support.
- May work with high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills.
- Engages in customer-facing activities with strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, working across multiple functions like Sales, Laboratory Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience:
- Minimum five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- At least 3 years in a Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy environment preferred
- Customer service experience in retail or service settings preferred
- Keyboard/data entry experience
