Job summary

KLA Industries in Washington, DC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3‑month contract with potential to become permanent. The role includes drawing blood, labeling specimens, and ensuring proper specimen handling and documentation.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, with benefits available. The ideal candidate has a valid state phlebotomy certification, at least five years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital, and a high school diploma or GED.

Valid phlebotomy certification for the employed state.
Minimum 5 years venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
Demonstrates technique with straight and butterfly needles.
Understands physicians' orders.
Matches requisition forms to tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as needed.
Checks test requisitions against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
Packages specimens for transport.
Stores specimens per required temperature and protocols for transport integrity.
Attends annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read lab results to satisfy inquiries.
