Qualifications

• Requires valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum 2 years venipuncture experience in fast-paced labs or hospitals.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, label and centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly to patients, in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Ensure orders match specimens and are properly labeled.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings and respond to lab result inquiries.
