Job summary

Franciscan Health Lafayette East is seeking a part-time phlebotomy technician to collect blood specimens and support laboratory operations. Responsibilities include patient registration, data entry, specimen accessioning, and processing for testing, with potential for limited POC testing under supervision.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and prior phlebotomy experience, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform laboratory office duties.
• Register patients and enter data into the computer system.
• Process specimens for testing or send to central or reference laboratories.
• Handle body fluids and urine specimens according to procedures; perform limited waived POC tests as authorized.
• May act as a driver and participate in on-call rotation.
