Job summary

Ascension St. Joseph – Chicago is seeking a phlebotomy technician to collect blood specimens and perform laboratory office duties at our Chicago location.

The role includes patient registration, data entry, specimen processing and potential on‑call rotation. A high school diploma or GED, phlebotomy experience, and a valid driver's license are required, with travel to other sites possible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training required.
• Background in medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens and perform laboratory office duties.
• Register patients and accurately enter data into the computer system.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing or sending to central or reference labs.
• Handle blood, body fluids, and urine specimens according to procedures.
• May perform limited waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director.
• Act as driver and participate in on‑call rotation as needed.
