Job summary

UPMC Horizon is hiring a Regular Full-Time Phlebotomist for primarily mid/afternoon shifts after training, with some midnight shifts and rotating weekends. Travel to support Greenville and Shenango Valley sites is required.

Candidates with phlebotomy experience are encouraged to apply. The role includes patient venipuncture, specimen handling, and collaboration with the lab team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or experience preferred.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally; respond to inquiries.
• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture, heel stick, and fingerstick; instruct patients as needed.
• Demonstrate dependability and independent judgment to accommodate department needs.
• Transport specimens to the appropriate section following safety procedures.
• Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies on procedures, quality control, safety and hygiene.
• Enter demographic information and test orders into information systems; manage charges and credits.
• Train and orient new employees, students and residents as applicable.
• Inform staff and pathologists of unusual incidents.
• May perform arterial puncture following guidelines.
• Monitor and maintain supplies; use materials cost-effectively.
