Job summary

UPMC Northwest is hiring a Flex Full-Time Phlebotomist to join our lab team. The role involves collecting blood specimens by venipuncture and other techniques, with varying shifts and no on-call requirements.

Candidates with phlebotomy or healthcare experience and/or phlebotomy education are encouraged to apply. This position requires professionalism, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to work collaboratively with laboratory staff across sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in phlebotomy preferred.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with laboratory customers courteously and professionally.
• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture, heel stick and fingerstick.
• Enter patient demographics and test orders accurately in LIS/IRIS.
• Train new employees and students as applicable.
• Inform staff of any unusual or problematic incidents.
