Job summary

Avera McKennan is seeking a friendly and precise Phlebotomist to support both inpatient and outpatient collection services. You will perform venipuncture, identify patients, and ensure accurate data entry and specimen handling in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent
• Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) - ASCP preferred

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and other specimen collection following approved techniques for inpatients and outpatients.
• Identifies patients before collection and explains procedures to patients.
• Completes patient registration and test order data entry as required.
• Labels, transports or stores collected specimens accurately and promptly.
• Communicates with internal and external customers professionally by phone, pager or in person.
• Interprets inpatient and outpatient test orders to determine collection timing and specimen types.
• Performs point-of-care testing according to established standards and procedures.
• Assists with records required by regulatory agencies and/or laws.
