Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collections, ensure accurate patient identification, and prepare specimens for the lab. You will work with a dedicated healthcare team in Macon, GA, handling adult and geriatric patients, with pediatric experience a plus.

This role requires phlebotomy training or certification eligibility and strong communication skills. Day shift is full-time with a schedule of 7:00 AM–1:30 PM on weekdays and every other weekend; night shift is PRN with

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course or 6 months phlebotomy experience in hospital or other patient care setting
• Must be eligible for phlebotomist certification

Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient blood by venipuncture or capillary puncture promptly and accurately
• Identify patients and record information on specimens
• Determine proper container type and promptly deliver specimens to the laboratory
• Provide phone support for patient care areas in a polite and supportive manner
• Maintain competency with hospital and laboratory information systems
• Train new teammates and students in departmental processes
• Adhere to PPE requirements and regulatory standards and participate in team meetings and improvement activities
