Responsibilities

• Collects and processes patient blood by venipuncture or capillary puncture promptly and accurately.
• Uses vacutainer tubes, butterflies, syringes, and needles for blood draws; capillary heel sticks as needed.
• Performs Positive Patient identification and documents details on the specimen.
• Determines proper container type and delivers specimens to the lab.
• Provides polite phone support to patient-care areas and sustains lab system competency.
