Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Phlebotomist at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. You will perform venipuncture and specimen collection for inpatients and outpatients, with rotating weekends/holidays and a pay range of $18.00–$23.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP) preferred.
• Ability to identify patients and explain procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens with accuracy to avoid repeats.
• Identify patients properly and explain procedures.
• Document test orders and data entry per procedures.
• Label, transport, and store specimens correctly.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
• Interpret orders to determine collection timing and specimen types.
• Perform point-of-care testing per standards.
• Assist with records maintenance for regulatory compliance.
