Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred.
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Obtain laboratory specimens for processing and testing in a professional manner.
• Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients; ensures patient safety during the collection process.
• Records and documents patient information accurately.
• Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures.
• Communicates with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.
