Job summary

United Future seeks a Phlebotomist (Contract) in Trinity, FL. This role supports blood collection, specimen handling, and adherence to lab procedures. 3 months with potential for extension or permanent hire based on performance. Requires strong venipuncture skills and a valid Florida phlebotomy certification. Training and benefits available.

Schedule typically 7:00am-3:30pm, Mon-Fri with rotating Saturdays; nominally a contract position with potential for permanence.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders and match requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions for 100% accuracy and package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens per required temperature and comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings and answer inquiries.
