Job summary

Singing River Health System is seeking a Phlebotomist/Courier to transport specimens and perform venipunctures in an outpatient setting in Ocean Springs, MS. The role requires accurate labeling, safe specimen handling, and effective communication with healthcare staff.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, processing, and routine clerical tasks, with periodic floating to other draw sites and rotating holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college in health/science preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred if certified (examples: ASCP, APA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, NIHP, MedCA, NPC, AAH).
• One year Phlebotomy experience preferred; equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Proficient computer skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must complete de-escalation training by end of orientation (90 days).

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures, heel and finger sticks and other specimen collections.
• Transport laboratory specimens to and from clinic sites per procedures.
• Verify orders, specimens, and patient identification; ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Handle clerical duties: process orders, use computer systems, file reports, and relay results to nurses/doctors.
• Rotate holidays and Saturday mornings as required; may float to other lab draw stations.
