Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously; demonstrate technique using needles.
• Fully understand physician orders and match requisitions to specimens; label, centrifuge, and freeze as required.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures to maintain integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
