Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification as required in the state of employment
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles; verify physician orders and match requisitions.
• Label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Package specimens for transport and ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Store specimens according to required temperatures and regulatory guidelines; attend trainings as required.
• Answer phone calls and communicate results or inquiries as needed.
