Job summary

H. T. PROF Group seeks a Phlebotomist for a contract role in the Austin area with float responsibilities across Austin TX. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 8am–5pm, may require other daytime hours. Duration is 3 months with potential for permanent placement. Mileage expenses are paid; clean driving record required.

Responsibilities include blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, specimen handling, and accurate data recording. Safe specimen transport and adherence to OSHA/DEP regulations are essential.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification required in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture procedure clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrate venipuncture techniques using straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure correctness; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and label containers.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
