Top Echelon LLC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in the Austin, TX area. The position involves floating among Austin-area locations, collecting and handling blood specimens, and adhering to established procedures. Hours are typically M-F, 8am–5pm, with potential for additional daytime hours.

Requires a valid phlebotomy certification and 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced setting. Mileage reimbursement is provided and a clean driving record is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimum 1 year of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously; demonstrates technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimens per required temperature and transport protocols; follow OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
