Job summary

LCMC Health seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture and specimen handling in a high-volume hospital setting. You will follow SOPs, monitor collections, and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma with 2 years of phlebotomy experience. Strong record keeping and communication skills are essential, as is adherence to clinical protocols and patient care with empathy.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques, appropriate blood processing and handling procedures.
• Record keeping skills.
• Understand and follow specific clinical protocols and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Performance of venipuncture and skin puncture in accordance with department SOP.
• Adheres to SOP in the use of handheld devices for specimen collection for patient.
• Monitors collection list and documents status of outstanding collections where specimens are not collected.
• Ensures STAT specimens are delivered to the Lab within 15 minutes of collection or pick up.
• Delivers to the appropriate Lab Section immediately upon receipt.
• Communicates complaints or problems to department supervisor.
• Collects data for quality assurance program as outlined by SOP or supervisor.
• Greets, guides and resolves basic patient queries; monitors inventory levels.
