Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or 2 years of applicable experience or Phlebotomist certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture following standard procedures.
• Use handheld devices for specimen collection.
• Monitor collection lists and document status of outstanding collections.
• Ensure STAT specimens reach the Lab within 15 minutes of collection or pick up.
• Update specimens with correct data and deliver to the appropriate Lab Section.
• Communicate complaints or problems to department supervisor.
• Collect data for quality assurance and maintain neat documentation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and blood processing.
