Qualifications

• Demonstrated customer service with physicians, patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and assess reactions to specimen procurement.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborn to adult.
• Label specimens correctly and resolve labeling or requisition issues.
• Answer and screen telephone calls; assist with inventory and supplies.
• Receive and sort specimens; respond to additional requests via pager or other means.
• Order and verify test requests; document information for QA.
• Review pending and management reports; generate and distribute reports.
• Assist Billing and other business functions.
• Instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and data entry.
• Provide care appropriate to age of patients served.
