Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a Phlebotomist to support mobile and fixed-site lab operations in Savannah, GA and surrounding areas with travel to Port Royal, SC. This contract role offers on-site duties, potential for permanent placement after ~3 months, and mileage reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will perform blood draws, ensure accurate labeling, and maintain specimen integrity while complying with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1-2+ years of experience.
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples as required
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information accurately
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperature and protocol to maintain specimen integrity
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
