Job summary

Software Placement Group (SPG) is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contracted role in the Charleston area, with travel to Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville and Walterboro.

The position runs 6am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, on-site, for about 3 months with potential permanent placement. You will perform blood draws, label and process specimens, and ensure accuracy while following physicians' orders.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience, with 1+ years of experience overall preferred.
• Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples according to established procedures.
• Collect and store specimens per protocol, including venipuncture and other collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal).
• Clearly and courteously explain collection procedures to patients.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining proper temperature and handling to preserve specimen integrity.

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join its clinical team on a contract basis with potential for permanent hire. This float position supports multiple locations in the greater Charleston area and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compassionate specimen collection for patients across all age groups.

What you'll do

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples according to established procedures
• Collect and store specimens per protocol, including venipuncture and other collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal)
• Clearly and courteously explain collection procedures to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport, maintaining proper temperature and handling to preserve specimen integrity
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Record maintenance data, perform decontamination procedures, and update patient information as needed
• Travel between assigned locations including Mt. Pleasant, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Summerville, and Walterboro, SC
• Work a schedule of 6am-5pm M-F, consisting of 8 hour shifts
